Apple to Let NFT Sales in App, Disney Pushes Into Crypto With NFTs, OpenSea NFT Marketplace Adds Optimism Support, and Facebook and Instagram Enabled NFT Support for All Users in the US
Apple will begin accepting NFT-based applications to become available within the App Store. However, the company also said that they include their standard 30% transaction fees for all transactions, a mechanism many NFT firms argue is unreasonable and not feasible for their existence in the store.
Disney is getting much deeper within NFTs as well as the Metaverse, as they created a job posting for a position that explains that they are looking for an attorney that will principally provide legal advice and support for global NFT products, which will be made in collaboration with Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, as well as Disney Parks, Experience, and Products.
The OpenSea NFT marketplace has added support for Optimism. Specifically, through an announcement, we saw a glimpse into the future of OpenSea as the company said that they are expanding their offerings to include projects built on Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution Optimism.
Meta has made NFT functionality available to all US Facebook and Instagram users. All users within the 100 countries where Instagram supports NFTs will gain access to the feature.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Economy Announces Headquarters in the Metaverse
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Economy has announced a new headquarters. Specifically intended to be located within a location where anyone on a global scale will be able to essentially visit them, and this is a reference to the Metaverse.
Based on Gulf News, this announcement was originally made on September 28 by the UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri during the Dubai Metaverse Assembly. Here, the minister stated that this is not a proof of concept; however, the third address before giving a live tour.
Nexo Has Acquired a Stake in a US Bank
Nexo has acquired a stake in the bank holding company that owns Summit National Bank. This US federally chartered bank is regulated by the Office of The Comptroller of the Currency. The Summit National Bank, a Hulett Bancorp subsidiary (DBA Mode Eleven), has begun to reinvent itself as a modern FinTech Bank. Nexo is the preferred digital assets partner. This will ultimately boost Nexo's presence in the US and enable the digital asset specialist's client to open bank accounts with the Summit National Bank and enhance lending and card products.
FTX Has Won Voyager Digital’s Asset Auction
FTX has won the auction involving acquiring the assets belonging to the bankrupt crypto lender known as Voyager Digital. FTX's $1.42 billion bid will cover $1.31 billion of crypto holdings and $111 million of other considerations. Voyager also said that FTX's recent winning bid is much better for customers when compared to the previous bids made.
Voyager claims that FTX's winning bid still has to be finalized, and after a court approves the purchase agreement on October 19, customers have to vote in favor of the bid. The Voyager Committee of Unsecured Creditors has already stated its support for FTX's bid.
BlackRock Announces Plans for Another Crypto ETF After Weak Debut of the First One
According to an official filing, BlackRock Inc. aims to track companies that have exposure to the Metaverse through the iShares Future Metaverse Tech and Communications ETF.
This fund, for which the fees and a ticker were not yet listed, might also include firms that have products as well as services tied to virtual platforms, social media, gaming, digital assets, augmented reality, and much more. This metaverse ETF would not be the first one, as a handful of funds are already trading, including the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF and products from Subversive and Fidelity.
